We are a group of people who live on residential islands, who value the quiet and peaceful nature of the St. Lawrence River and the island neighborhoods that give this area such unique charm. While we understand and appreciate the value of tourism and that resorts are a foundational element of the 1000 Islands Region, allowing commercial operations in quiet residentially-zoned  island neighborhoods is different and allows the financial interests of a few to change the character of these places forever.  We successfully opposed Resort designation on Sport Island, and any other islands, and are pleased the zoning was changed, for these reasons.
