The build-out of a resort or wedding venue or similar commercial endeavor on Sport Island (or any other island) would have a significant negative impact on nearby quiet residential island neighborhoods. If approved in any form, it would have set a new precedent that could have turned turn any island community up and down the river into a commercial party zone.
Public comment remains very important and we invite you to get involved, to support the Town Board regarding th new zoning laws that prevented commercial exploitation of ALL the islands and protected their unique character that so many come to see.
